The Stroudwater Canal was constructed to bring coal to the woollen cloth mills in the Stroud valley. This website features the history of canal structures, related buildings, Company employees and the local community. The Stroudwater Canal benefited from the Thames & Severn Canal continuing eastwards to join the River Thames.
