Wed 19 Apr 1837
From John R Denyer
To W P Richards
8 Wellington Street, Strand

Summary

Deficiency in receipts of tonnage. Forced importation of coal because of increased price. No proper person procured to succeed Chivers at the Engine. Person in Mr Ferrabee’s service to put Engine to work if necessary.
While the water was out below Brimscombe, I had the walled recess completed at Partridge’s dyehouses at Bowbridge as ordered by the Committee.
Saving water in future. Water too plentiful in the springs to enable sills of some of the lower gates to be repaired.
Mr Ferrabee himself inspected the Engine.
