Summary

Cargo of Pen-y-van coal (mostly used in Bristol) not equal to Blaenavon either in size, look or quality.
The deficiency in merchandise has reduced receipts, and I much fear the abolition of the coastwise duty on stone will injure this line by opening a route through the Kennett & Avon and Wilts & Berks Canals from Bristol.
A fortnight previously, stop planks had been ordered to be put down in various places on the summit level to determine leakage sources. Work for this to have been done by Mr McIntosh.
