From John R Denyer
To H McIntosh
19 Charlotte St, Bloomsbury, London
Mr Jones asked for a more particular account of probable expenses of repairing lock gates or of making new ones. £100 would be required for each new lock (upper and lower gates) to properly reinstate including masonry to the hollow quoins, stanking and keeping out the water, repairs to cills and so on. 44 locks – 14 thoroughly repaired recently and 30 needing immediate attention. All to be done within three years. Committee has fixed 27th Jun for a meeting at Lechlade to go along the line of the canal and for Mr McIntosh to accompany.
